Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) – Pediatrics to provide leadership and operational support for a pediatric inpatient unit during evening/second shift hours.
This role is ideal for a pediatric Registered Nurse with leadership experience who is passionate about staff development, evidence-based pediatric practice, and delivering high-quality, family-centered care. The ANM partners closely with the Nurse Manager and nursing leadership to ensure smooth unit operations and serves as a key clinical and leadership resource during off-shifts.
Key Responsibilities

Support daily unit operations including staffing coordination, scheduling, onboarding, and staff orientation

Supervise, coach, and mentor pediatric nursing staff to promote clinical excellence and professional development

Reinforce evidence-based pediatric practices and support quality improvement initiatives

Monitor workflows, productivity, and staff performance; provide timely feedback and guidance

Serve as a clinical leader and escalation resource during evening/second shift coverage

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve pediatric patient outcomes and family experience

Assist with budget monitoring, resource utilization, and operational planning

Promote a positive work culture grounded in shared governance, accountability, and open communication

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and pediatric care guidelines

Support education related to child development and developmentally appropriate care
Qualifications
Required
-
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state or compact, eligible for practice)
-
3–5 years of pediatric clinical experience, including 2+ years in a leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory role

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)

Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification

Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (Instructor preferred or obtained within 6 months)

Strong leadership, communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills

Master’s degree (MSN, Healthcare Administration, or related field)

Pediatric Nurse Certification or relevant specialty certification

Experience with quality improvement initiatives, staff development, and pediatric unit operations
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Primarily evening/second shift; occasional weekends or holidays may be required

Fast-paced pediatric inpatient environment

Regular interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Physical activity may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs
