Qualifications
Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (CT)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • 3–5 years hospital clinical nursing experience

  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare technology

  • Proficient in EHR systems, data analysis, and reporting tools

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to educate and support clinical staff

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics, Healthcare Informatics, or related field

  • Prior experience in informatics or healthcare information systems

  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives and clinical workflow optimization

About the Role
As a Clinical Informatics Nurse Specialist, you will serve as the bridge between nursing staff and IT teams, optimizing clinical information systems and electronic health records (EHR) to enhance patient care, workflow efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. You’ll support nursing leadership in achieving strategic goals, drive adoption of best practices, and ensure seamless integration of technology into clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with nursing, medical providers, and ancillary departments to assess and improve clinical information systems

  • Lead initiatives for system enhancements, upgrades, and new implementations

  • Develop, conduct, and support training programs for clinical staff on EHR and other healthcare technologies

  • Analyze clinical data to support evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes

  • Participate in nursing and organizational policy formulation related to technology and workflow

  • Serve as a liaison between IT, nursing, and clinical departments to ensure effective integration of technology

  • Partner with clinicians to understand workflow needs, document requirements, and provide feedback on solutions

  • Identify opportunities to enhance clinical processes through technology and implement best practices

  • Lead and participate in clinical informatics projects within scope, time, and budget constraints

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including HIPAA, and support patient safety initiatives

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Continuous walking, standing, bending, reaching; periodic sitting

  • Occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds and patient assistance

  • Frequent use of fine motor and sensory skills for assessments, documentation, and equipment use

  • Ability to work indoors in a sometimes noisy environment, with occasional outdoor duties

  • Flexible hours as needed to support staff education, training, and emergency response
