Leave and Disability Coordinator (Temporary)
Location: New Haven, CT – hybrid, 2 days on-site per week
Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: Approximately through April/May
Pay: $33–43/hr, depending on experience

This temporary role primarily supports return-to-work processes for employees on leaves of absence (LOAs) and manages staff accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Coordinator will work closely with managers and HR Business Partners (HRBPs), administer State and Federal FMLA leaves, liaise with external vendors for ADA and medical processing, and manage internal administrative workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process return-to-work activities for employees on leaves of absence, including ADA, Federal FMLA, and Connecticut FMLA.

  • Directly handle and implement ADA accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and internal policies.

  • Administer and track State of Connecticut and Federal FMLA leaves, including eligibility determinations, documentation, and timelines.

  • Collaborate with managers and HRBPs to facilitate accommodations, leaves, and return-to-work planning.

  • Liaise with external vendors for ADA and medical certification processing.

  • Maintain accurate and compliant records and documentation in Salesforce and Workday.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for staff inquiries regarding accommodations, FMLA, and leave-related questions.

  • Assist with ad hoc administrative tasks within the department as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct experience managing Leaves of Absence, including ADA accommodations and State and Federal FMLA administration.

  • Thorough working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Federal FMLA, and Connecticut FMLA requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience handling and implementing ADA accommodations from intake through resolution.

  • Experience using HRIS systems such as Workday; Salesforce experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
