GPRO-Data Abstraction Temporary Assignment: 40 hours M-F-Waterbury

Abstracts patient data from medical charts for the application of the NCQA /HEDIS Quality measures for chronic illness such as diabetes and heart/stroke recognition programs.

The Abstractor conducts a detailed review of medical charts and insurance claims for hospitalizations, medical office visits, and other procedures, to determine if the quality of care measures, as defined by NCQA for the year’ s HEDIS audit, have been met. 

The position requires knowledge and experience using computer technology (EMR) e-Medical Record review with primary care  provider offices. 

Abstract health information from patients' paper or electronic medical charts;

Work with physician staff to set abstraction appointments, pull charts according to the protocol and arrange for all necessary tools to conduct abstractions;

Provide accurate, prompt post-assessment findings to the project lead;

Qualification Requirements:

3 years, Electronic Medical Record chart abstraction or chart review.

Strong knowledge of diagnosis codes.

Strong Data entry/Technology skills.

The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, self directed and able to set priorities, meet deadlines, communicate proactively and follow up with minimal direction. 

High standards of professional ethics, able to maintain strict confidence of private information, respectful of others, able to instill confidence in others and earn their trust; 

Abstracting experience is required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, standard medical abbreviations, and medical terms sufficient to identify proper location of specific health information; 

Working knowledge of clinical workflows to understand types of health information most pertinent to various visits and procedures; 

Strong data analytical skills, organizational, facilitation, and project management skills required; 

Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;

Knowledge of general office procedures and Microsoft Office; 

Prior experience as medical records -EMR
