Job Title: Nurse Informaticist – Clinical Informatics
Location: New Britain, CT
Overview:
We are seeking a Nurse Informaticist to bridge the gap between clinical practice and healthcare technology. In this role, you will work closely with nursing leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and IT departments to optimize electronic health records (EHR), improve clinical workflows, and enhance patient care outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with informatics expertise to influence healthcare delivery through data, technology, and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clinical teams and IT to implement, maintain, and optimize EHR systems and other clinical applications.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical workflows, documentation standards, and patient care processes.
- Analyze clinical data to identify trends, support quality improvement initiatives, and guide decision-making.
- Develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff on system use, documentation, and workflow best practices.
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, and project management for healthcare technology initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards related to clinical informatics.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop policies, protocols, and workflows that enhance patient safety and staff efficiency.
- Act as a liaison between clinical staff and IT teams, translating clinical needs into technical solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in acute or specialty care.
- Strong understanding of EHR systems, clinical documentation, and healthcare workflows.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
- Certification in Nursing Informatics (RN-BC or equivalent).
- Experience with data analytics, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation requirements (The Joint Commission, HIPAA, meaningful use).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare IT systems.
- Influence the intersection of patient care and technology.
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize clinical workflows and patient safety.
- Engage in data-driven decision-making and quality improvement initiatives.
