Payroll Specialist

Location: Windsor, CT

Job Type: Temp to Hire

Schedule: M-F, 8 am – 4 pm; on-site

J. Morrissey & Company is in the search for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join the accounting team for a reputable, not for profit client of ours. The ideal candidate is an organized, team player with payroll experience and a desire to take on the full range of payroll functions. This employee would work under direct supervision of the Payroll Manager and will process payroll for all staff on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Verify and audit employees’ electronic time sheets and ensure that company policies are adhered to
  • Enter payroll information and necessary adjustments into the payroll system
  • Prepare payroll checks
  • Communicate with the company’s insurance broker to process insurance deductions for employees
  • Manage communication and proper documentation of events with outside financial, union, and pension auditors
  • Process remittance of 403B loan repayments
  • Participate in all staff meetings, training events, and other company meetings as needed
  • Other responsibilities as needed

  • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of payroll and/or Accounts payable experience
  • Robust knowledge of Excel, Word, and accounting software
  • Must be an adaptable individual who can adjust to changing policies and priorities
  • Must be able to maintain accurate and organized files
  • Must have an interest in payroll or accounting

  • $21-31/ hr, depending on experience

 Jake is a 2021 graduate from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resources as well as a minor in Psychology.
