Senior Accountant

Farmington, CT (hybrid work schedule)
$65-75k, depending on experience
In partnership with a longstanding local client of ours, J. Morrissey & Co. is recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's accounting division. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and executing complex reconciliations, cash management, and month-end activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform high-level reconciliations for various financial accounts, including but not limited to, accounts receivable, bank statements, general ledger, intercompany transactions, and balance sheets. Must be able to resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Maintain daily bank controls
- Support the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Perform month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis related to reconciliations, providing insights and recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.
- Other accounting responsibilities as needed such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statements, and general ledger maintenance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
- 5+ years of related experience
- Experience with Kariba banking software is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with various levels of staff and management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
