Staff Accountant

3-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
$33-36/hr (Depending on Experience)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our client’s Finance Department. The Staff Accountant I will be responsible for executing multiple accounting functions, including month-end closing activities, account reconciliations, internal and external reporting, and variance analysis. This role involves collaboration with various levels of staff and requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly journal entries (JE's) within designated timeframes and input approved entries into the General Ledger (GL) system.
- Conduct thorough reviews of ledger results to ensure accuracy.
- Complete assigned account reconciliations and input data into the GL system.
- Create purchase orders (PO’s) and review invoices as assigned.
- Review and process employee reimbursements in accordance with established policies.
- Assist the budget department during the annual budget process to ensure adequate funding.
- Prepare supporting documents for annual audited statements and monthly financial statements.
- Perform variance analysis of budget-to-actual results and present findings to management.
- Serve as a backup for the daily check process.
- Scan and maintain documents for projects.
- Maintain lease schedules
- Reconcile short-term loans, tuition and fees, and bank accounts.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience as an accountant
