Staff Accountant

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Constructing and analyzing financial spreadsheets
- Confirm accuracy of vendor invoices, reimbursements, etc.
- Verify accuracy of the general ledger monthly
- Posting journal entries monthly
- Provide support in annual auditing
- Maintain reconciliations of all accounts
- Prepare financial reports – monthly and quarterly
- Assist in processing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable as needed
- Provide support in year end processes such as closings and reconciliations
- Accurately document all financial records and transactions
- Weekly metrics reporting
- Take on special projects and tasks as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred
- 1+ years of hands on accounting experience
- Knowledge of and ability to learn accounting software
- Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
- Strong communication skills – must be able to professionally interact with coworkers, management, and vendors
- Attention to detail
- Analytical skills
- $45-75k, depending on experience

Prior to joining J. Morrissey, Jake worked at Glastonbury Hills Country Club, where he used his strong work ethic and passion for building relationships to develop his skills in communication and customer service. Jake is excited to be involved with a company that enables him to assist other people in finding their passions.
Jake is a 2021 graduate from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resources as well as a minor in Psychology.
