Virtual Information Security Officer (Remote)

Job Description
Our client is a leading Information Technology Security Consulting firm based in New England. They are seeking an experienced IT Security leader to join their team and become the trusted security advisor for a hand full of key clientele. If you have experience successfully building and maturing IT security programs/initiatives in diverse organizations, this is the opportunity for you.
Direct Hire role, 100-135/hour, 25-30 hours per week (Comp flexible based on experience level)
Remote position, very limited travel to clients
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop, refine, and maintain information security plans for a diverse range of clientele including Higher Education, Legal, FinTech, and Manufacturing
- Lead 3rd party vendor risk review and management
- Perform Executive level repotting to display security initiatives, compliance status, and organizational needs
- Develop and refine organizational and departmental polices and procedures
- Provide third party authentication to best represent client security practices (Cyber liability, renewal, insurance)
- Provide guidance and triage response/assistance to security events
- Perform security awareness training, ensuring clients meet compliance standards
- Mentor and coach client staff to evaluate and improve security awareness levels
- Current or former experience within the following roles: CISO, ISO, vCISO/ISO, Director of IT Security, or combination of experience in a mid – sized organizations
- CISSP, GIAC, CISM preferred but proven work experience acceptable
- Demonstrated familiarity with compliance landscape (NIST 800-171/800-53/CSF, HIPAA, GLBA, CMMC
- Strong ability to learn and accommodate to the culture of each client
- Must be competent in data security governance, classification, and other safeguards
- Experience across multiple industries and disciplines
- Strong ability to adapt to and speak with various audiences on the fly, translate needs, and bridge gap in between departments
- Background in technical engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
